In addition to cutting at an angle that everyone mentioned, you want to recut them ever other day. Be sure you strip the leaves well so none are in the water. It’s a good idea to change the water every few days. You might see if you can get a couple packets that all supermarket florists as well as premium ones give with cut flowers to extend life (if not the aspirin idea, while not as effective is stilll good).

Also if you can keep them in a cool area you’ll find they last much longer. I had one stunning arrangement that I put in my 2nd fridge at night (I lowered the temp to not freeze it….forget what the exact setting was, I double checked w/a good florist first). Also make sure the flowers don’t get hit w/direct sunlight during the day. Mostly enjoy them!

Cut the stems at an angle.

Try dropping a few drops of Clorox in the water. Can keep flowers longer and eliminate bad smell from the water.

Changing water daily is highly recommended too.

Put an aspirin in the vase or buy fresh cut flower food to keep it at least a week.
